Maati (soil) is the essence of our being but our Maati is a smooth mix of rock and fusion notes. Born in the year 2014 after formally been known as “New York Harmony”, Maati is a joint collaboration by 4 musicians who residences in New York City .They are  Richard, the drummer, Partha on the keyboard, Mahfuz on Bass and finally Zohan, the lead guitarist. Before Maati they all played individually in various band and thus linking up to form Maati with years of experience. They are known to have played with famous Bangladeshi singers such as Mamtaz, Ayub Bacchu, Baby Naznin, Andrew Kishore etc. Recently they had a gig with well renowned Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu and Kunal Ganjawala. Ever since their existence Maati has performed on stage locally and out of state. On October 17th 2014” Rock On’ a live program held at Queens Palace gave colors to their much awaited dream. Rock on was a live rock show organized solely by Maati Band members with local artists. This program was also broadcasted on local channels. Not only that, Maati Band has performed at TBN Bangla channel, NTV star search and Cine Bangla phone online programs. Long hours of practice and intense determination have created Maati. Still a relatively young band it is well formed and internationally known by many. Their music and techniques are truly about combining the new to the old or a beautiful blend of urban to rural. If their music did not slay anyone, the groups live shows and performances continued to wow the audience. To name few, they have covered the well-known FOBANA from 2010 up until today. Dallywood award shows, ABC convention, Folk Festivals, Melas all stand in witness of their success. As Michael Baron once said “it’s not the instrument that makes the music beautiful, it’s the musicians”. Within the walls of Maati the musicians combines layers of mix styles and strives to make Maati the essence of music.
